EDINBURGH FESTIVAL & EVENTS
The Caledonian, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel, has a long historic association with the famous Edinburgh Festival, having played host to some of the most illustrious names in show-business every August since 1947.
The Edinburgh Festival is the world’s largest Arts Festival, held every August in the Scottish capital. For a full month the city is thronged with locals, tourists & street entertainers – awash with colour and alive with music and revelry.
The Festival is actually comprised of several smaller festivals. The original Edinburgh International Festival was launched in 1947 in the aftermath of the Second World War, with a view to showcasing the very finest in international theatre, classical music, opera and dance.
Five more major festivals – Fringe, Jazz, Film, Book and Television – have since been introduced, with the Fringe in particular having arguably eclipsed its progenitor in terms of size and popularity, and having become one of the top locations on the international comedy circuit.
